Camp Site Director

Weekly Work Expectations: Pre-camp commitments, weekly late afternoon commitments, weekday and occasional weekend work (meetings/trainings); Approximately 50 hours

Camp Assistant Site Director

Administrative Assistant

Weekly Work Expectations: Weekdays; Approximately 40 hours

Expected Weekly Compensation: Wage range starting at $425

  • Elementary, Secondary or Physical Education degree preferred, but not mandatory
  • Previous professional experience working with children
  • Instruct and teach the fundamentals of various sport(s) to all ability levels

Lifeguard

Prerequisites: BA or higher, at least 1 year of teaching experience, must be certified lifeguard (from reputable organization, preferably American Red Cross), must be certified WSI and possess a current Montgomery County, MD certified Pool Operator’s License

Weekly Work Expectations: Weekdays; Approximately 40 hours

Expected Weekly Compensation: Discussed during interview process

  • Prepare and implement swimming lesson plans for campers ages 3½-9
  • Ability to lead swimming lessons for campers ages 3½-9
  • Supervise swimmers and enforce safety at all times

Facility Assistant

Prerequisites: 18 years old or graduating high school senior, working with children not mandatory, but preferred

Weekly Work Expectations: Weekdays; Approximately 45 hours

Expected Weekly Compensation: Wage range starting at $225

  • Directly report to the Site Director/Asst. Site Director with daily operations, set-up and break-down of camp equipment, sports areas, lunch rooms, and more.
  • Set up/break down of all camp related equipment
  • Work as the camp mascot in a professional mascot costume; on hot days
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment
  • Keep to an extremely tight schedule of daily events
  • Must be extremely patient, flexible, and positive

Extended Care Supervisor

Prerequisites: BA or higher, at least 1 year of teaching experience, excellent customer service skills, outgoing, friendly and highly organized, team player. Must hold CPR/First Aid certification

Weekly Work Expectations: Weekday afternoons approximately 2:45 to 6:15 pm; approximately 18-20 hours

Expected Weekly Compensation: Wage range starting at $10/hr

  • Represent Headfirst Camps without camp site director present
  • Oversee program and supporting staff of 1-2 camp employees
  • Ensure safety and account for all campers via check-in/out lists
  • Daily communication and briefing with Site Director
  • Expedite daily lesson plans
  • Must be flexible, patient and positive
  • Collect fees for any drop-ins at pick up time
  • Keep accurate updated lists of all campers enrolled; injury logs
  • Communicate with parents in regards to camper behavioral issues
  • Must stay on campus until the last camper is picked for the day

Extended Care Staff (AM or PM Staff)

Prerequisites: Current college student or higher, experience working with children in group setting, excellent customer service skills, outgoing, friendly, team player

Weekly Work Expectations: Weekday mornings: 7:15 to 8:45 am; Weekday Afternoons 3:00 to 6:00 pm.

Expected Weekly Compensation: Wage range starting at $8/hr

  • Set up of morning check-in area (AM)
  • Managing check-in lists
  • Collect fees for any drop-ins at pick up time
  • Provide interactive supervision to all campers
  • Ensure safety and account for all campers
  • Keep accurate updated lists of all campers enrolled (AM)
  • Supervise campers to daily camp programs (AM)
  • Collect fees and paperwork for any drop in campers (AM)
  • Communicate daily any questions or concerns to Extended Care Supervisor

Camp Volunteer

Pre-Requisite: Rising High School junior (16 years of age by June 1) or above, working with children not mandatory, but preferred. 4-week minimum commitment. Reliable transportation; amenable to working in any of our camp locations.

Weekly Work Expectations: Weekdays; Approximately 38 hours

  • Ability to follow daily program schedules alongside a lead counselor, for campers ages 3½–8 years old
  • Assist counselors with all daily operations
  • Assist with set-up and break-down of equipment in all camp programs
  • Assist counselors and campers with all facets of the camp day (lunch, swimming, snack-time)

2010 Headfirst Camp Programs

Day Camp
This program is designed for 3 ½ to 6 year olds who are ready to spend the day exploring, making new friends and engaging in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Weekly camp themes may include themes such as: space, wild animals, the ocean, dinosaurs, etc will be introduced during camp. Camp songs, water play, art projects, outdoor play, and quiet time make this camp a big hit with the tots. Campers also play in a variety of sports and activities throughout the week including: basketball, baseball, and soccer. Campers also climb the rock roll, stay cool in the pool or on the water slide, get crafty with indoor projects, enjoy plenty of afternoon rest time and recess, and enjoy traditional camp game activities.

Single Sports Camps: Baseball (Coed), Basketball (Coed), Soccer (Coed), Boys Lacrosse
Provide instruction, fun and athletic development and leadership for athletes of age range of 4-13 and all athletic abilities. Campers enjoy friendly competition, but the focus and philosophy of the camps is “Effort” over “Results.”

Multi-Sports Camp
Campers ages 6-12 participate in a variety of sports throughout the week including: basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, flag football, team hand ball, street hockey. Campers also climb the rock wall, stay cool in the pool or on the water slide, and enjoy traditional camp activities. A Friday field day of fun is also included each week.

Specialty Camps: Movie-Making, Cooking, Science, Magic
