Mad Science Camp Overview

Headfirst Mad Science Camp offers two fun and exciting options for the budding scientist:

RED-HOT ROBOTS CAMP
Join us for a week of fun with amazing robots! Campers learn about the uses for robots and how they affect their daily lives while experimenting with super-cool red-hot robots. Throughout the camp program, campers are introduced to: sound sensing robots, line-tracking robots, amphibious robots and robots that can even play soccer! Come discover the science of circuits and how robots use sensors to explore and to move. Each day includes at least one project that exemplifies the lesson of the day, including a “take home” robot!

3-2-1 BLAST OFF CAMP:
This safe and action-packed week focuses on rockets and the physics of rocket flight. After learning the safety code, campers build a number of rockets and participate in the mission control, launching, propulsion and finally recovery. Campers also discover the unique details of space travel including: the history of space travel, space vehicles, basic Newton’s Laws of Motion and the solar system. Campers are divided and rotate between three teams: altitude-trackers, launch preparation, and rocket launchers. If your children enjoy adventure, this camp is designed specifically for them! Each day includes at least one project that exemplifies the lesson of the day, including a “take home” rocket at the end of the week!

CRIME SCENE CAMP:
This action-packed week introduces campers to life in the form of cells and organs and how the science behind life can help you solve a crime! Discover the secrets behind batteries and design marshmallow molecules. Conduct electricity and power a Mad Science whirligig. Learn how blood pumps through the heart and air moves through the lungs. Use “ooey-gooey” ingredients to build a model cell and use personal traits to decode and decipher DNA. Make a gutsy apron, a model lung and your own invisible ink. Finally, team up with fellow campers to solve the “Great Cookie Caper” crime using forensic skills.
